Voltage test: This is carried out using a volt meter or a multimeter in voltage range. It is possible for it to show very high resistance value if it is still connected in the circuit even when it is broken.ģ. A broken fuse will show OL (open loop) or infinite ohms value. A good fuse should have zero ohms resistance, in other words, it should not be resistive. Continuity test: This is carried out using a multimeter in the continuity range or an ohm meter in the lowest ohmic range. Many fuses have transparent cover that makes it possible to see the conductor of the fuse.Ģ. Physical inspection: This involves looking at the thin conductor of the fuse for breakage. There are three ways to identify a blown fuse as follows:ġ. Short circuit: A short circuit allows passage of maximum amount of current in the circuit.

High current: A high current that passes through the fuse will break it.ģ. Battery terminal reversal: This happens when the positive and negative terminals of battery are interchanged.Ģ. Some cars have a single battery fuse while others have more than one to protect different groups of electrical loads.ġ. How many battery fuses are present in a car?
Battery fuse windows#
Accessories like central lock, power windows and so on not working.ĭepending on vehicle design, battery fuses can be located in the following areas:ģ. The battery fuse is the first line of defense to the electronics in the vehicle.īelow are the symptoms of a bad battery fuse:ģ. Aside the battery fuse, there are other smaller rated fuses that are directly protecting individual loads. It is not a component that has polarity but rather a conductor that easily melts/breaks when high current passes through it.Ī fuse that is connected to the battery protects the main supply circuit to loads. Fuses are relatively cheap components making replacement easy to do and making having several spares easy.Ī fuse has two terminals. They are thin strips of electrical conductors that heat up and melt when a current that is above the current designed for it to withstand passes through it, thereby protection the load that it is connected to. Use caution to not damage the fuse with the pliers during removal.Fuses are important electrical safety components used to protect loads against high current and for short circuit protection. Gently grip the fuse housing with the needle nose pliers and pull the fuse directly outwards. Use needle nose pliers to remove the 40A blade fuse. Use a small flat head screwdriver to carefully remove the fuse cover and set it aside. Locate and re move the 40A fuse cover.Reinstall the battery and test the bike fully before riding.Reinstall the rubber cover over the fuse.

Use needle nose pliers to carefully remove the 5A blade fuse. Never open the battery housing, which will void the warranty and can result in damage to the battery, property, serious injury, and/or death. In the case of damage to the terminals or battery mounts, please discontinue use and contact Rad Power Bikes Product Support immediately. Do not touch the "+" and "-" terminal contacts on the bottom of the battery, be careful to keep the exposed connector terminals clear of debris, and do not drop or damage the battery.
